Wow this video helped so much as I had my grandma's old 1800s dresser and had no idea how to get it off for years and never knew how to fix some of the problems you showed wish I could show you the before and after cus it helped so much and looks so much better now I dont let my sister or brothers anywhere near it after that and another trick I learned is you can use white toothpaste to get rid of the marks if you leave it on and wipe it off with a paper towel following the grain

Holy cow! The top cleaned up gorgeous! That looked like it was in throwaway condition. The design looks three dimensional with that oil you put on it.

Maybe the reason why there was only one inlay on one side is because it is assumed the other side would be tucked beside a chair or sofa? And such an inlay would therefore be unseen and a wasted effort to put it in. that’s my theory!

Hi! I really do like your videos but in this one, I don't hear you mention rinsing/washing off the oxalic acid once it's dried, which I understand is really important. Here is Spain it's a controlled substance. A friend uses it to control infection in bees, but he won't let me have any acid. Thanks a bunch! Keep up the good work!

My my.. you need a few tools.. a lathe, compressor, spray gun. Sander.. a solid top would make this look great with all new legs.. But you did alright with what you had.. It’s fun.. 👍☺️

Although it was a lot of work, the veneer removal looked like fun! Can you keep any of the pieces for future repairs? I really like the effect that you got with the white stain! It’s so subtle, but it’s beautiful with the white top. Leaving the tiny bit of unstained wood is a beautiful touch. Although I liked the white hardware, it looked like it was added after the factory pull was put on the drawer. I’m sure you’ll find another project to use it on.

What was the tool you used for heating the bar of wax?

Ohh how i dislike it when people paint Beautiful pieces of furniture. I'll never understand that. I see pieces that from the 1800s and are "redone " to look beautiful. No it's not beautiful but it once was before you painted it. You did an amazing job bringing it back to life. Love it.❤

I have a Macey barrister bookcase also. It is in good condition except for scratches in the wood and there is a round water stain on one shelf. I may do what you have done here. What kind of shellac did you use?

I want to do something similar to an old junk cabinet TV. Replace the tube with a tablet or LCD with loads of preloaded black and white shows and movies. Can't find a good candidate, maybe 3d printing would work?

I love it when someone admits to an error and then fixes whatever they did wrong. The last person on earth who didn’t make any mistakes ended up hung on a cross, and although I want to keep His values, the crucifixion thing is NOT my career goal. Some of the “dust particles” could’ve been spattering of the spray. It sounded like you might have been running out on the first coat.

The transformation just from the gel stain is mind boggling. It looks so rich. The fill sticks are probably mostly colored wax. They look like the wax sticks that were used with metal stamps to seal documents and letters. You’ve got to love thrift stores! I found my wedding dress in one 45 years ago for TEN BUCKS. My grandmother dropped the phone when I told her. I also found a working lava lamp in the same store about a decade later for five dollars.
